NURSERY & PRESCHOOL KIDS (6WKS - K)

First Time Families

What should I bring for my child under the age of 2?

When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:  Two or three disposable diapers (no cloth diapers please), pacifier or other soothing security item, an extra set of clothes, bottle of milk, formula, juice or water (this is a good practice even for mothers who nurse). Please label all personal items with child's first and last name before arriving to child's class. This helps us keep track of your child's items.

When I arrive, where do I take my children?

You can register your child at our BarefootKidz check-in stations located in the BarefootKidz Building lobby. At the check-in station, fill out the registration form for your family. Please fill this form out completely, accurately and legibly. The information you provide helps us with any special concerns, allergies and special needs your child may have during their stay with us. Once you have completed the form, name tags will be placed on your child's back. You will be given a 'ching tag. This tag must be presented at the time of child pick up. A child will not be released without presentation of the parent's corresponding tag. Classrooms open for children 15 minutes before service. Please communicate with your child's teacher any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies and special needs.

Will my child receive a snack while in class?

Snacks are provided for the children once they graduate to the Toddler classroom. The food items consist of water and Cheerios.  Once they turn 2, they are given pretzels, goldfish, cheezits or animal crackers and lemonade. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Saying Good-bye

After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. It is normal for little ones to cry when separated from the parent. Our leaders will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance of your return. Our leaders have been trained and desire to nurture your child in the best manner. However, if your child cries for an extended period of time, your child’s number will appear on the center screen during the worship service.

What are the procedures to pick-up my child?

Your child's leader will confirm that your number matches the one with your child before releasing them. Please check your child's personal items before you leave the premises. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time. Items not claimed after one month will be donated to a charitable organization.

What Happens in Class?

Babies and Toddlers will experience a safe, clean environment in which they can play and experience lots of loving care provided by our committed volunteers. During their stay with us, they will be introduced to the concept of God and His love for us through the use of music, video, and story time. (Baby Faith & Praise Baby)

Children ages 2 through Pre-K will experience through worship, service, community, art, and dramatic play:

Wellness Policy

To ensure the health of children and staff, we ask that sick children not attend the ministry.

Young preschoolers are very susceptible to colds, flu, and other diseases.  We realize a child’s illness can be a difficult time for a parent, and it is often frustrating to rearrange your schedule to provide care for a sick child at home.

BarefootKidz desires to help eliminate these concerns as much as possible.  This requires that our classrooms have the healthiest environment possible.  The best way to prevent illness is to prevent exposure.  With prevention in mind, we ask that parents keep preschoolers at home when any of the following signs of illness are present:

  • Severe cold/sneezing
  • Temperature of 99.6 or higher within the past 24 hours

  • Persistent cough/sore throat or swollen glands

  • Red or sore eyes/crust around lash area/pink eye

  • Discharge from nose that is thick or not clear

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

  • Undiagnosed skin eruptions or rashes

  • Fainting or seizures

  • Signs or symptoms compatible with communicable diseases

  • Lice or nits within the past 24 hours.  Barefoot Church enforces a "no nit" policy

  • Preschoolers who exhibit any of the above symptoms, while under BarefootKidz care, will not be permitted to remain under our supervision. If the child becomes ill while under our care, the parents will be contacted and requested to come pick up their child immediately. If the child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before returning to their BarefootKidz classroom.

    General Security

Once service has begun, all doors and security gates to the classrooms are kept closed.  The BarefootKidz doors are also closed 15 minutes into service.  Hallways are monitored by staff and onsite security.

There are uniformed police and plain clothed security on campus during all service times.

Volunteers are required to complete an application which includes a background check in order to work with a child of any age. Teachers are required to comply with protective procedures for changing diapers and assisting a child in the restroom.

    Medical Procedures

Typically, a minor injury can be treated with a little loving care, washing the area, applying cool cloth, and/or a bandage.  A first aid kit is available in the classroom or at the BarefootKidz Check-In Desk. We'll treat the child with a bump or "booboo" and complete an "Ouch Report" to be given to the parent at pick-up, with full details of "story".  Keep in mind that we are not authorized to dispense any over-the-counter or prescription medications.  In the event a child needs more attention than we can provide, the parent will be notified and paramedics will be contacted.

We do have on-site medical professionals available for emergencies.

    ELEMENTARY (1ST - 6TH GRADES)

After checking in at the BarefootKidz Check-in Station, kids are encouraged, engaged, and challenged to trust God, make wise choices, and build lasting friendships. Here's what a typical experience at BarefootKidz looks like.

Welcome:  Each family is greeted in the BarefootKidz Building lobby Check-in Station. Check in opens 30 minutes prior to each service hour. Doors open to the environment 15 minutes before each service. This time is used to allow our small group leaders to catch up with our kids and for kids to have the time to "hang" with their friends before we move into our worship time.

Large Group Environment: During our large group time, kids are engaged in learning about God through praise and worship, video, drama, and games. We use costumes, props, and characters from the story - anything that makes the Bible come to life and captures the imagination of our kids.

Small Group Environment: After participating in worship, kids break out into age-appropriate small groups where their leaders help them understand how the day's bottom line can fit into their everyday life. Small group leaders at BarefootKidz are serious about having fun with kids and passionate about teaching the TRUTH.  We want kids to see how God's Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him.  Our goal every weekend is to connect, inspire and establish relationships that are going to matter when they need it most and to build friendships that will last.
